The win for UNI is its first since taking the Missouri Valley Conference title last season on Oct. 29. Friday’s event, hosted by Notre Dame, was split into two races (blue and gold). The Panthers were slotted in the gold division.

“Our ladies ran a great race today,” head coach Dave Paulsen said. “We stayed together and executed our race plan. I’m proud of their performance and couldn’t be happier. We’re looking forward to taking what we learned here and improving on it for the next meet.”

Leading the way for the Purple & Gold was sophomore Hannah Truniger, who claimed another top-10 finish after coming in ninth overall.

ran a 17:32.8 for the 5K. The top-10 finish is her second of the season and fifth at UNI.

The trio of Brette Correy, Tiffany Christensen and McKayla Cole rounded out the Panthers’ top-20 finishers. Correy placed 14th after running a 17:39.2, Christensen placed 15th after running a 17:39.9 and Cole placed 20th after posting a 17:49.1 in the 5K. Senior Ashley Norem placed 29th overall after she turned in a 18:03.1 in the 5K on Friday.

For the men, UNI placed 10th overall in the 5 Mile Gold race. CJ May once again led the Panthers, finishing 44th overall after running a 25:43.1.
