The Iowa State track and field season begins Friday with ISU hosting the Cyclone Duals at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center. Competition will begin at 4 p.m. both on the track and in the field, and admission to the meet is free. The competition will be a three-team meet between the host Cyclones and in-state foes Drake and UNI.

While many of Iowa State’s top student-athletes will not be competing until after the Winter Break, there will still be plenty of star power at Harry Hoak Track on Friday. ISU has a pair of All-Americans entered in competition, with Jalen Ford entered in the men’s high jump and Jasmine Staebler slated for the women’s mile. Ford was a First Team All-American outdoors in 2017, while Staebler earned All-America honors in the 800 both indoors and outdoors.

The meet will also see many Cyclones get the chance to make their ISU track debuts. Up to 10 student-athletes could compete in the Cardinal and Gold for the first time on Friday. On the men’s side, 2016 New Balance Nationals 800 champ Frank Hayes and Keiran Sutton, a four-time All-American at Division II Shippensburg University are entered to make debuts. For the women, the throwers will be the ones to watch with freshmen Essence Henderson and Keiara Williams both slated for ISU debuts in the weight throw and shot put.
