The win was Iowa State’s first Big 12 title and its first conference crown since 1994. The Cyclones also snapped Oklahoma State’s nine-year winning streak. The Cowboys finished third.

The men were not alone in winning at Old Settler’s Park. The Iowa State women also brought home a Big 12 crown. This marks the first time since 1990 that both the men’s and women’s programs won titles in the same season.

The Cardinal and Gold received All-Big 12 efforts for the second straight year from sophomores Andrew Jordan and Thomas Pollard. Jordan finished fourth with a time of 24:12.7, with Pollard right behind him in fifth at 24:14.5.

Iowa State had three other runners reel in All-Big 12 honors. Junior Dan Curts crossed the finish line in 24:16.9 for sixth place, sophomore Stanley Langat took 11th with a time of 24:22.5 and freshman Milo Greder stepped up big time for head coach Martin Smith, taking 14th in a time of 24:28.9.

Junior John Nownes finished 16th in 24:29.7, sophomore Sam Clausnitzer finished in 23:34.4, which was good for 18th and Zach Black rounded out the top-25 with a time of 24:43.5.

Juniors Festus Lagat and Ricardo Banuelos capped off the men’s team with 32nd and 41st-place finishes, respectively.

The men will return home in two weeks for the NCAA Midwest Regional, which will be held at the Iowa State Cross Country Course on Friday, Nov. 10.
