The distance group led the Hawkeyes, seeing improved times in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters. Senior Daniel Soto broke onto the Iowa all-time list, ranking third in the 5,000 meters (13:59.82).

“I thought overall we made some progress today as a team,” Iowa Director of Track & Field Joey Woody. “It was awesome to see some of the great performances at Iowa State from our distance athletes. Dan Soto continues build on his fantastic cross country season with another big personal record today.”

Seniors Ian Eklin (14:24.17) and Bailey Hesse-Withbroe (14:43.81), and junior Megan Schott (16:39.54) ran their fastest 5,000 meters, and freshmen Noah Healy (8:15.32) and Anna Hostetler (9:35.10) ran their fastest 3,000 meters.

In the 400 meters, sophomore Aly Weum ran 55.31 and freshman Daneisha Woodsideran 57.97, recording their best times, and Maria Gorham inched her way to a new high jump best (1.66 meters, 5-5 1/4).

Junior Chris Thompson on the 600 yards in 1:11.17, senior Chris Douglas placed second and tied his personal best for the fourth time in the 60-meter hurdles (7.76), and juniors Nia Britt and Aubrianna Lantrip took third in the weight throw (18.14 meters, 59-6 1/4) and the high jump (1.66 meters, 5-5 1/4), respectively.

“I was happy to see Chris Douglas tie his personal best from last year with a time that should qualify him to the NCAA meet,” Woody said. “It was the best hurdle field in the country, so I was more excited for him to finish second and beat some NCAA caliber hurdlers.”

The Hawkeyes continue to compete in the Iowa State Classic and Tyson Invitational on Saturday. The Iowa State Classic starts at noon (CT), and the Tyson Invitational starts at 10:30 a.m. (CT) with field events and running events start at 1:30 p.m.
