The Wichita St. Shockers hosted the 69th Annual J.K. Gold Classic. The Shocker Women defeated Missouri State 23-34 to finish the dual meet 1-2. Missouri women won the classic finishing 3-0.

Shocker freshman Winny Koskei lead the team finishing seventh overall with a time of 14:17.5, finishing 14th was fellow freshman Rita Schnacker with a time of 14:32.4. Senior Jordan Maestas ran the 4K in 14:44.1 to finish 17th and freshman Yazmine Wright rounded out the top 20 with a time of 14:53.1.
Rebekah Topham, who was the 2015 and 2016 champion, was running unattached and finished first overall with a time of 13:39. 6. Topham became the first three-time J.K. Gold Champion since Tjaart Van Niewwenhuizen won it in 87′, 88′ and 89′ on the men’s side.
Former Shocker Tonya Nero, who was the 2010 champion, finished the 4K in 13:42.1 to place second.
Wichita State is next in action Sept. 2 at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo.
