Next Level Iowa Podcast Re-Run: Frank Canady-IC West-Grinnell

Layne Anderson-Coach Iowa and Frank Canady-IC West-Grinnell

Layne Anderson-Coach Iowa and Frank Canady-IC West-Grinnell

In January 2016 we interviewed Frank Canady-IC West-Grinnell during his recovery from serious brain surgery.

Many people would say that Frank Canady could run before he could walk.  Frank was a high school stand out at Iowa City West and then a five-time Midwest Conference Champion and three-time D3 National Qualifier for Grinnell.

In August of 2015, after graduation, Frank enrolled in medical school at the University of Iowa.  It was there that Frank found himself in the race of his life.  He was stricken with an astrocytoma tumor found in his brain.

Following a successful surgery to remove the tumor on August 13 and was released from the University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City on August 15   .

The U of I med student is taking this “race” head on, much like he did as a champion he was in high school and college.

It wasn’t long before Frank was able to ride a stationary bike, then a real bike and then he was able to slowly return to running.

If you know Frank Canady, you know that although this is a very serious situation, it will take more than this to slow him down.

Frank is a believer in the power of prayer and we invite all of you to remember Frank and his family when you hit your knees and thank God for your many blessings.

Here now is our inspiring story of Frank Canady, recorded in January 2016.
