Led again by Ashley Plumb, the Bees had a pair of packs no far behind to squeak away with the 5-point win over Wartburg College in the 8-team race.
Plumb, who ran a school record 17:56, was the third finishing collegiate division runner, while chasing her down were Keeley Knobloch, Megan Grady and Abby Sears who finished sixth through eighth with imes of 18:46, 18:49 and 18:52 respectively.
Not far behind them were the rest of the Bees scorers. Chloe Gunn was 14th in 19:14, Emma Duncan was 16th in 19:15 and Jenny Dickes was 17th in 19:15. Claire Duncan was the Bees 8th runner in 19:16 while Emma Swanson finished in 19:25.
The Bees team time of 93:38 was also a school record in the rarely run 3-mile race.
“Our depth right now is really incredible,” St. Ambrose coach Dan Zeimet said. “We could have any number of different women step up on any given day and that makes us a really good team.”
The 18th-ranked Bees will compete with their top 10 at the Louisville Classic on Sept. 29 while the rest of the team will compete next weekend at Beloit College’s Olde English Classic.
