Following the season-opener last Saturday, Loras sophomore Gabrielle Noland and junior Bella Solis have been named Iowa Conference Performers of the Week for women’s track and field, as announced by the league office on Monday.

With 54 team points, the Duhawks won the women’s title at the Battle of the Bluff on Saturday at Dubuque.
Noland won the 55m and the 200m with a pair of top-five times nationally at 7.27 and 25.5, respectively. Her time in the 55m ranks third in Division III while her 200m time is second behind the reigning national champion in Wadeline Jonathas from UMass Boston. In addition, Noland ran the second leg of the winning 4×400 relay that finished with a time of 4:06.40 that ranks fourth in Division III.
Solis was near-perfect on Saturday at the Battle of the Bluff, putting her plethora of talents on display. The junior won the high jump, 400m and 4×400 relay while taking second in the 55m hurdles. Her height of 1.68m in the high jump tied a school record set by Amy Oleson in 1998 and ranks second in Division III. Solis’ win in the 400m came with a time of 59.74, which places her in the top-10 nationally.
Loras returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Sol Butler Classic, hosted by Dubuque.
