As the lone representative from the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C), the Loras College men’s track and field team checked in to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason Index as the No. 4 team in Division III, marking the highest rank in program history. The USTFCCCA released the first round of rankings on Wednesday.

The Duhawks scored top-ten finishes at the 2018 and 2019 indoor national championships, highlighted by back-to-back national titles by Patrick Mikel in the 400-meter dash and six All-American performances. Mikel currently ranks fifth in Division III in the 400m after running a 48.59 at the season-opener on Dec. 7.
Ryan Rogers is also a returning All-American in the heptathlon, earning honors in both 2018 and 2019. The junior ranks third in Division III this season after setting a new school record 5,058 points in the event. He also recorded lifetime bests in the 60-meter dash (7.19 seconds), shot put (36 feet, 5.50 inches) and the pole vault (14’10.75″) and set an indoor best 6’4.25″ in the high jump.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse owns the top spot in the preseason rankings while the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is second and Mount Union University is third. Behind the Duhawks in fifth is the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Loras returns to the track for the first time this decade on Saturday, Jan. 18 for the Sol Butler Classic, hosted by the University of Dubuque. Events begin at 10:30 A.M.
