The Loras College women’s cross country team will toe the start line as the No. 6-ranked team in the Central Region on Saturday according to the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, released on Tuesday.

The Duhawks took a week off from competition following an impressive display at the National Catholic Championship, hosted by Notre Dame University, on Sept. 20. Kassie Rosenbum paced the Duhawks with a fourth place finish overall, setting a new school record for the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:57.48. Audrey Miller added a 27th place finish overall (19:10.46 and Kaylee Osterberger was 47th with a time of 19:51.26, helping Loras finish as the top-Division III team in the field of Division I, II and III competitors.
Carleton College remains the top-ranked team in the region while the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) bypassed American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) rival Wartburg College for second to place the Knights third. St. Olaf College and Gustavus Adolphus College held onto their fourth and fifth place rankings, respectively, while fellow A-R-C opponent Luther College was No. 7 behind Loras and Concordia University-Moorhead sits at No. 8.
Nebraska Wesleyan University was the final A-R-C school in the regional rankings at No. 9 while Bethel University (Minn.) ranks tenth.
The Duhawks travel to Waverly, Iowa for the Wartburg College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5. Race time is set for 10:30 a.m.
After giving its top runners a week off, the Loras College men’s cross country team returned to the start line and scored a fifth place finish at the National Catholic Championship, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, earning the top Division III spot in the field.

Luke Guttormson led the Duhawks and all Division III competitors with a 16th place finish, clocking a time of 26:22.46 for the five mile course. Patrick Wolak added another top-20 showing placing 18th overall with a time of 26:29.73. Cole Conklin-Little was the next scoring runner for Loras in 33rd (26:55.41) followed by Joey Schultzin 40th (27:16.37) and Blake Keller in 53rd (27:34.85).
In the open race, Ethan Hammerand had the top time for the Duhawks, crossing the finish line in a time of 28:33.58 to finish eighth. Sam Webster placed 13th (28:48.33) followed by Max Ross in 16th (28:58.54) and Drew Brase in 19th (29.12.71). Jake Jensen was the Duhawks’ fifth man, clocking a time of 29:19.90 to finish 21st.
Loras heads to the Wartburg College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5 with race time in Waverly set to begin at 10:30 A.M.
