Cyclones Ready For Outdoor Season

The 2017 outdoor track and field season begins for the Iowa State track and field teams this weekend at the Tulsa Duels. Field events will be competed on Friday, starting at 1 p.m. The hammer throw will take place at East Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma while the pole vault and javelin will take place at Tulsa’s Hurricane Track Stadium starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Saturday competition begins with field events at 9:30 a.m., and running events at 11 a.m.

There will be no live video of any of the competition. Live results will be provided by TRXC Timing, here.

The start of the outdoor campaign is an entirely new season for Iowa State, with many Cyclones returning to the fold based off of eligibility for indoor or outdoor season. Six Iowa Staters are slated to make 2017 debuts this weekend, with 2016 U-20 World Championships qualifier Kelly Naumann, and senior javelin thrower Trey AchterhoffClick here to hear it leading that group.

Among the notable performers from indoor season entered to compete this weekend is Big 12 Indoors women’s weight throw bronze medalist Christabel Okeke, who is entered in the hammer throw and shot put, the men’s hurdles duo of Logan Schneider and Elijah Young, starting their seasons in the 110m hurdles and the 200-meter dash and Trever Ryen, who will be on the track this week before returning to spring football next week. Ryen is slated to run the 100 and 200-meter dashes.
