The Clarke University men’s and women’s cross country teams will open their 2017 seasons on Friday, Sept. 1, at the 24th annual Mount Mercy University Mustang Gallop in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The event will begin with the women’s race at 6 p.m. with the men’s race to follow.

“We have a great group of returners as well as a solid group of newcomers for both the men’s and women’s teams, and I see our team moving up in the conference standings,” said Clarke Head Coach Brooke Ferguson. “It is going to be very important to our team’s success that everyone believes and pushes each other to be the best runner he/she can be.”
Clarke’s men’s team includes seniors Craig Stout (SR/Doylestown, OH) and Malik McCrary (SR/Lansing, Mich.), junior Logan Fraker (JR/Wheaton, Ill.), sophomores Michael Aguilar (SO/Glendale Heights, IL) and Kevin Ockenfels (SO/Center Point, IA), and freshmen Devin Dobbles (FR), Reid Galloway (FR) and Jimmy Slowik (FR).
Clarke’s women’s squad consists of seniors Anna Cole (SR/Kenosha, Wis.) and Sydnee Hendricks (SR/Grimes, Iowa), juniors Lauren Block and Emily Riesenberg (JR/West Bend, Iowa), sophomore Alex Branham (SO/Moline, IL), and freshmen Annie Knobloch (FR), Mariah Pellino (FR), and Lauryn Pritchard (FR).
