With the NAIA National Championships right around the corner, some members of the Viking’s track and field teams traveled to Seward, Nebraska over the weekend to compete in the Concordia Twilight. Grand View had four more events qualify for the big stage.

Freshman LaVon Davis (Ames, Iowa) hit a “B” standard in the hammer with a mark of 48.25m as well as an “A” standard in the discus with a throw of 44.89m. The 4×100 relay team hit a “B” standard and broke the Grand View school record with their time of 48.40 seconds. The team members included freshman Dimetrea Hamilton (Des Moines, Iowa), junior Ronnoja Ayers (Des Moines, Iowa), senior Katie Roberts (Ankeny, Iowa) and freshman Allie Flaws (Webster City, Iowa). In the men’s hammer, sophomore Clay Siefken (Burlington, Iowa) hit an NAIA “A” standard with his mark of 52.80m.
The NAIA National Championships are held May 25-27 in Gulf Shore, Alabama at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.
