Alec Baldwin nearly had himself a national championship as it was a three-man race to the finish line. Baldwin placed second in 4:13.34. The pace was slow in the early portion but Baldwin held steady from start to finish in second place. As the pace quickened Oliver Aitchison of Adams State made a move on the outside lane on the backstretch of the final lap to push both Baldwin and third placer Chase Rathke of Tarleton State.

The three-man sprint went around turns three and four before Aitchison was able to pull ahead by the slightest margins and claim the victory in 4:12.69. Baldwin was in second place followed by Rathke.

Baldwin’s All-America honor is his second of the meet and the fourth of his career during the indoor season. The Spirit Lake, Iowa, native claimed All-America honors as a member of the distance medley relay team on Friday night.

Madison McLaughlin placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 46-11. The toss came on her first throw of the day and held its way through all six throws to grab All-America status. It is the first time the Wall, South Dakota, native has earned All-America during the indoor season.

The Yellow Jackets close the indoor championships with two individual All-Americans and a relay team that earned All-America honors.
